Me and my brother walked in the classroom around 9:35 and then I went to pray 2 rakat. Today there were a lot of people in the class. R brought a new person called Y to the class and i didn’t really talk to him at all but D and O did. Right away I started to study Ayat al kursi in English because that’s what I was supposed to be tested on. After a while I finally got it fully memorized but every time i went up to test with LG I would forget or mix up parts.

I then started to practice Ayat al kursi line by line for my next test. This was way easier because all I had to do was connect some Arabic and English words to each other and then  say them in order.

After about two hours of memorization and testing we finally moved on to the part of class where we learn things other than memorizing. There were 2 reverts that had come to visit and LG asked C to talk about something for 5 minutes. He started talking about how he found Islam and where he took his shahada. He mentioned that there was a book he showed to LG when they first met years ago. The book is about “we believe vs. I believe”. It shows how some people in Islam don’t question anything even if they are confused and they just go with whatever the other people say.

His wife (J) started talking about this guy back in the day who had a dream that he converted to Islam and then he ended up doing it. When the guy told his mom she threatened to starve herself if he converted. He did it anyway because we should always put Allah on top of everything. And he did it without yelling or shouting at his mom. The mom ended up giving up after 3 days of not eating or drinking anything.

LG asked about the movie that we watched last class but H and D weren’t here to watch it. Everyone who was in class that day took turns explaining and adding onto each other’s explanations of the movie “mooz-lum” to the others.

After that, LG asked someone to pick a number from the board. He picked “k wisdom”. The difference between knowledge and wisdom is that knowledge is like knowing the Arabic words of prayer and wisdom is like knowing both the Arabic and the meaning.

And then he asked what our goals in life as Muslims. A lot of people tried to say what it was but they got it wrong until O said that it is to make ourselves better, help others become better, and make the world a better place.

LG then told us that the new people will have to do a 10 minute presentation just like everyone else already did about any topic that they want to do that is approved by LG. The original people in the class will have to do a presentation about the Quran in general since in level 2 we will be visiting the Quran a lot in class.

Lastly, we talked about how chat gpt is used for everything nowadays and LG said that some of us have been using chat gpt for our essays but I don’t even know how that would be possible because AI doesn’t know what we did in class or what we learned.

Class ended but my dad was still talking to other parents so me and D had to wait for him for about 30 minutes before we could go home.

Overall this Sunday felt really short and i feel like we didn’t do that much because we were doing memorization for 2 hours or more.
