Sameer Tariq 14 for Jan 11 2026
Today in Sunday school, we spent a lot of time working on a double-sided sheet. This sheet is
super important for what we are learning right now. Our teacher told us that we have a test
coming up soon. To move up to the next level, we need to recite the whole double-sided sheet
from memory! So, most of our day was spent revising, which took up a big chunk of our time.
Revision and Recitation
During our revision, we practiced reciting the sheet over and over. The goal was to say the page
and verse without looking at it. My teacher wanted us to get it perfect! Since I’m new to the
class, I had to start with the basics. I spent a lot of time repeating the lines to make sure I didn’t
miss a word. The test is really strict, and knowing everything by heart is essential.
Learning New Words
After our revision, we talked about some specific words and what they mean. This part of the
day was really interesting and made me think a lot.
Amana: Using Our Talents
The first word we learned about was Amana. Our teacher asked us what it meant to us. He
explained that Amana means using the gifts and talents that God has given us. For example, if
someone is really good at playing soccer, they should use that talent. It’s about taking care of
what we have and not ignoring it. Using our skills is how we fulfill our Amana and do good in the
world.
Accountability: Being Responsible
Next, we talked about accountability. This means we are responsible for what we do, no matter
the situation. Our teacher said that it doesn’t matter if things are going well or not; we need to
own our choices and actions. This idea helps us learn from our mistakes and be better people.
Love: Our Connection with God
We also discussed love, especially our love for God. Our teacher told us that we should always
love God and never let anything come between us and Him. Love is a big part of being a good
Muslim.
Shaytan: The Temptation to Do Wrong
After that, we learned about Shaytan. Our teacher explained that Shaytan tries to mislead us
and tempt us to do bad things. He’s always trying to get in our way when we want to do the right
thing. Knowing this helps us stay strong and make the right choices.
The Soul
We then talked about the soul. Our teacher said that our soul is the most important part of who
we are. Even when our bodies are gone, our souls stay forever. This means that our soul is
always with us, and we should take care of it.
Inspiring Stories
Later, we had a special guest from Argentina who shared his story about converting to Islam. He
told us that when he was a kid, he learned about Catholic traditions, but something always felt
wrong. So, he started to learn about Islam and decided to convert. He thanked our teacher for
helping him understand everything.
His wife also shared her story. She said she felt unhappy with her old religion, and converting to
Islam made her life so much better. She seemed really happy about her new faith!
Our Teacher’s Insights
Our teacher told us that everyone is born a Muslim. People follow other religions because that’s
what their families believe. This idea helps explain why some people revert—they are finding
their way back to where they started.
When someone asked about the Quran, our teacher explained that it’s not just a manual for
Islam. It’s more like a guide that helps us understand how to live. For example, the Quran tells
us to pray, but it doesn’t tell us exactly how to do it. We have to figure that part out ourselves!
Conclusion: A Day of Reflection
That’s what our day was like—working on the double-sided sheet, listening to stories, and
talking about important words like Amana, accountability, and the soul. We learned a lot about
our responsibilities and how to be better Muslims. At the end of the day, we went over what we
needed to memorize for next week’s class.
Today was filled with valuable lessons and made me think a lot about my faith. I can’t wait to
keep learning and growing in my journey as a Muslim.
